Every time I try to use this stitch, my brain is like “Nooooope!”
To get an even edge with this, you definitely have to fall into a groove. That groove is tricky to fall into, though D:
One of the reasons I love crocheting so much, though, is if you mess it up, just rip it out and try again. No harm done.

Crocheted with super squishy and soft 100% acrylic yarn (vegan, hypoallergenic, machine wash/dry safe) in a rusty orange with tan and black accents. (I made the ears with tunisian crochet so they were sufficiently squooshy and not so holey.)
